Mid-sized companies

Take a tile manufacturer in Castellón with 140 people across the office and the factory floor. Its systems manager is excellent and looks after the ERP, the sales team laptops, the plant network and the CCTV all at once. Then the largest customer, a German retail chain, sends a forty-question supplier security questionnaire on two-factor sign-in, tested restores and incident handling, and wants it back within a fortnight. The issue is not talent but hours. Apply reinforces that team remotely exactly where it cannot reach, without replacing anyone.

What Apply takes over

At this size, a smooth Monday morning hinges less on a single sales laptop than on the servers, user identities, access rights and data. Your in-house people keep the business knowledge; Apply handles the plumbing underneath.

Walk us through your setup

Physical and virtual servers

Windows Server and Linux in your own comms room, with a provider such as OVHcloud, Arsys or IONOS, or in the Azure Spain Central region. Patches go in during maintenance windows agreed with you, and every change is logged with a date and a named engineer in the change record.

Access that follows the job

We restructure Active Directory and Entra ID around department groups, replacing rights handed out as a one-off favour years ago. A starter who joins on Monday has access on Monday; a leaver who goes on Friday loses it that same afternoon, ERP login included.

Backups proven by real restores

Servers, Microsoft 365 and the ERP database are copied on a schedule, with one set held off the premises. At the agreed frequency a randomly chosen system is restored and the time it took is recorded. Until it has been tested, a backup is little more than a hopeful guess.

Network and carrier lines

Firewalls, switches and wireless access points configured and watched from a distance. Guest Wi-Fi, CCTV cameras and the warehouse or shop floor each get their own VLAN, and a 4G or 5G backup line switches in by itself when the fibre drops.

Customer questionnaires, NIS2 and ENS

Large customers send security questionnaires; we fill in the technical answers with you and collect the proof for each one: two-factor coverage, backup policy, the incident reporting procedure and a log of privileged access. If you sell to public bodies and they ask for the ENS, we prepare the technical side of getting there.

Regular figures you can plan with

On the agreed cycle, a summary drawn from the ticketing tool: request volumes, deadlines met, patch and backup status, and the risks heading your way. It feeds next year's budget instead of forcing you to explain spending after the fact.

In-house, outsourced or somewhere between

Hardly any company this size chooses between all in-house and all outsourced. These three models are the most common; the middle one copes best with August and sick leave.

Model 1

Everything in-house

One systems person handles it all, from printer toner up to the firewall.

Deep knowledge of the business
Understands which team depends on what, and for what reason
One sick day halts everything
Security always waits behind the next emergency
The split that works

Model 2

Shared areas

Your systems lead keeps the ERP and the users; Apply runs infrastructure and security.

Cover is always there
August and sick leave no longer stop the service
Expert help within reach
Apply owns networking, Intune and backup

Model 3

Fully outsourced

Every part of IT in a single agreement, with a named contact person.

A single accountable party
Management sets priorities rather than administering
Rules on paper
Timescales and scope are written into the contract

Common questions

Your company may sit outside the directive and its Spanish transposition, yet your customer may well fall inside it and therefore has to assess its suppliers. That is where the questions on authentication, backups and incident notification come from. Whether the law applies to you is for your legal adviser to judge. Apply answers the technical points honestly and, wherever a control is missing, implements it before the same question comes back next year.

Yes, on the technical side. Spain's National Security Framework (ENS) places systems in a basic, medium or high category and sets specific controls for each. Apply helps define the system in scope, implements the technical measures (access control, logging, backups, encryption, incident management) and prepares the paperwork for the declaration or certification of conformity, depending on the category. Certification is issued by an accredited body, not by Apply.

Not at all. That colleague understands your machines, routines and users like nobody else and remains the hub. Apply takes away the repetitive work, the monitoring and the specialist topics like the firewall, Intune or a tricky restore, freeing them for the ERP and new projects. As a bonus, they can take a fortnight off without packing the laptop for the beach.

Through a shared ticket queue and clear rules: anything about the ERP or factory users goes to them; network, servers, backups and security go to Apply. A half-hour call every week or fortnight is enough to review open items and planned changes. All documentation written belongs to your company, including if you change provider one day.

No. Apply does not replace your a3ERP, Sage 200, SAP Business One or Business Central partner, nor whoever built your bespoke application. We look after the layer beneath it: server, database, performance, backups, remote access and update windows. When the partner logs in, they find a documented environment, and you stop refereeing two different stories about the same fault.
