Pages, PDFs, linked images, forms, users, orders and integrations in the current system, cross-checked with Search Console and analytics.
A CMS migration is a lot like moving house: the hard part is not the new place but everything accumulated in the old one. Pages nobody remembers that still get visits, PDFs linked from other sites, forms wired to forgotten mailboxes, integrations someone set up and never documented. If your current version no longer receives patches, as with Joomla 3 or Drupal 7, the move is not optional. Take an independent hotel group in Mallorca with a Spanish, English and German site on a bespoke system nobody understands any more: every lost URL means lost Google visibility and direct bookings drifting back to the big booking portals.
A complete migration involves far more than copying text. These are the parts of the job.
Pages, PDFs, linked images, forms, users, orders and integrations in the current system, cross-checked with Search Console and analytics.
WordPress, PrestaShop, WooCommerce, Shopify or a bespoke build, depending on what your team publishes and what must be connected.
Migration scripts for structured content and manual transfer for the most valuable pages, plus users and orders where the source allows.
A mapping table with a 301 redirect for every old URL, including documents and images linked from elsewhere.
Hreflang and cross-language links reviewed for each version, before and after the switch.
Analytics, conversion goals and structured data carried over before the switch so results can be compared.
Tracking 404 errors, deindexed pages, rankings and forms for several weeks.
Duration depends on content volume and how orderly the old system is. The switch itself happens in one night; the preparation takes weeks.
We crawl the current site and cross-check the results with Search Console and analytics: every URL with traffic or inbound links goes into the plan.
Each old URL is given its new destination. You review the table with us before any content moves.
Content is moved into the new CMS and the complete switch is rehearsed on staging, redirects included.
Go-live at a quiet hour, redirects checked, and errors and rankings monitored for several weeks.
Languages multiply the risk of a migration. A site in three languages does not just have three times the pages; it has three times the URLs, three times the hreflang tags and three times the chances of one version being linked to the wrong counterpart. A single hreflang mistake can make Google show the German page to someone searching in Spanish. On multilingual sites we check each language pair separately, before and after the switch.
That depends on what your team publishes and what has to be connected. For most corporate and service sites, WordPress is the most practical; for shops, PrestaShop, WooCommerce or Shopify; for projects with their own rules, a bespoke build. We recommend an option with reasons after reviewing the current site.
Yes. The new site is prepared and approved on staging while the old one stays live. The switch takes minutes and is timed for a quiet hour, and the old environment is kept for a few weeks in case we need to roll back.
They are migrated if the source system allows them to be exported. Passwords cannot always be carried over for security reasons; in that case users get a link to set a new one the first time they sign in.
It depends on the number of pages and languages, and how far extraction from the old system can be automated. After the initial crawl we give you a phased quote at €75 per hour + VAT.
A few days of fluctuation is normal. A lasting drop usually comes from missing redirects or trimmed content, which is exactly what the mapping table prevents. We measure rankings before and after so any problem is caught in time.
Tell us which system you use, roughly how many pages it holds and why you want to move. We will reply with a method and the risks to watch.
