VPS servers

Picture a twelve-person tax advisory firm in Valencia running a3ERP on a desktop tower tucked under a partner's desk. It works, right up to the day that tower dies in the middle of income tax season or somebody needs to work from home. A VPS fixes both problems at once. It is a virtual machine with cores, memory and disk set aside for your business inside a professional data centre, reachable safely from anywhere. It is also the natural home for a website that has outgrown shared hosting, or for that in-house tool nobody dares switch off. You pay a monthly fee for the capacity you use. The administration, which is where security is actually won or lost, is our job.

The right provider

OVHcloud, Hetzner, Arsys or IONOS when price matters most; AWS in Aragon, Azure Spain Central or Google Cloud in Madrid when you already use them or a customer insists. The account is always opened in your company's name.

Sized to fit

We measure what your team really consumes, quarter-end VAT peaks included, and start lean. Growing takes one click, whereas an oversized VPS drains money every month whether anyone uses it or not.

Hardening from day one

Updated operating system, admin access by SSH key or two-factor sign-in, a firewall that allows only what is needed and idle services switched off, all before the first user connects.

Staff access

Remote desktop for the accounting or payroll package, published behind a VPN or a gateway with strong authentication, and compatible with remote working and time-recording rules.

Backups with an escape route

A snapshot before every significant change plus a nightly copy with another European provider. Each quarter we restore a sample to prove the copies are usable.

Ongoing care

Security patches in agreed maintenance windows, alerts for disk, memory and TLS certificate expiry, and a short monthly report on what was done and what needs a decision.

A simple VPS is up and running within a few days. When a business application with years of data has to move, we schedule the switchover for an evening or a weekend.

Inventory

Which applications will live on the machine, how many people will be connected at once, which licences you already own and where the data sits today.

Build

We create the machine in your account, install the system, harden it and deploy monitoring agents. No real data touches the VPS until this stage is complete.

Move

Databases and files are copied in the agreed window, two or three users test it, and we then set up the remaining workstations remotely.

Handover

Credentials in a password manager, a document describing the environment, and a test restore carried out live on a video call so you see the procedure.

The forgotten VPS is the dangerous one. We regularly come across machines someone set up three years ago, never patched, with an admin password half the office knows. Nobody watches them because “they work”. To an attacker they are the perfect way in, and INCIBE keeps making that point in its guidance for small firms. A managed VPS has an owner, a patch calendar and alerts. You will not notice the difference until the day it matters.

Common questions

A fresh machine for a website or a simple application usually takes two to five working days. If a business application with its database has to be moved and the whole team given access, allow one to two weeks, because we rehearse the migration before doing it for real.

Yes, provided we can reach it remotely. Data and configuration are copied over the network. If a physical hand is ever needed, say to plug in an external drive, we ask a member of your staff to do it with step-by-step instructions.

It is rare, but it happens. That is why backups live with a different provider: if the main data centre has a serious problem, the service can be brought back elsewhere from the latest copy. Recovery time and acceptable data loss are agreed up front, based on what your business can tolerate.

In two parts. The provider invoices your company directly for the machine and any licences, with no mark-up from us. Administration is charged at €75 per hour + VAT or covered by a Start plan (from €590 per month + VAT), Business or Premium, depending on how many systems you run.

Websites, PrestaShop shops and custom applications run leaner on Linux and need no licences. If your software only exists for Windows, or staff need remote desktops, Windows Server with its access licences is the answer. We cost both options for you.
